Setting up an office might seem like a simple task on the whiteboard; Install the phones, buy the computers, connect to the internet, job done. If it were that simple, we wouldn’t devote a whole page to it. The problem is that nothing works how you want it to, there’s always things that have been overlooked, and everything drags behind schedule.
We know, we’ve been there.
The problem we found most annoying was that when you wanted to set up a new office infrastructure you needed to phone a hundred different companies because they all specialised in just one area. So, we’d have our computer installers setting up the machines (badly), the phone company installing the phone line and another to set up the phone system. We’d have the printer supplier trying to get the print server insalled on a network that wasn’t working because the phone company had got the order wrong... You get the picture. It’s times like this when you wish you had more hair to pull out.
